Federal gov . is spending $170 million to replenish the dunes on Fire Island.
May 9, 2014 - Brookhaven, NY : The Federal Government has pledged to spend $170 million to replenish Fire Island's Superstorm Sandy-damaged dune system. The plan will require the government to either move, or purchase 41 homes, a number of which are in the hamlet of Davis Park. The home of Bob and JoAnne Spencer, who were early supporters of the project, may, ironically, be among those affected.
